CityMash.com - What better way to celebrate Vancouver’s whitest Christmas season than by indulging in some delicious festive treats? Because what is Christmas for if not for satisfying our sweet tooth with all of the seasonal goodies?
Luckily Vancouver’s bakeries and chocolate shops have been hard at work crafting beautiful Christmas cookies, cakes and everything else sugar-plumped to keep our sugar levels exactly where they should be for the holiday season.
Check out our top six winter wonders from around the city:
Buches de Noel at Thierry
Chef Thierry has whipped up five festive Buches de Noels, or Yule Logs, that are perfect for serving at a holiday get together. We’ve got our eye on the chestnut one with hazelnut sponge and real candied chestnuts. They’re so popular that Thierry advises placing an order in advance before they sell out. If you do miss out, Thierry has kindly shared their recipe for a family-style buche on their Facebook page.
Showpieces at Chez Christophe
For something a little bit more whimsical and unique, check out the handcrafted chocolate showpieces at Chez Christophe. Each chocolate creation, from a penguin sliding down the mountain to a bear wrapped around the tree, is filled with more chocolate candies inside. Does it get any cuter than these?
Ho-ho-holiday Buns at Giovane
If chocolate isn’t really your thing, check out the special holiday buns at Giovane. Featuring flavours of pistachio, vanilla, cranberry and orange, these adorable sugar buns are the perfect sweet treat if you’re feeling the Christmas chocolate overload.
Lump of Coal at Beta5
Beta5 creates delicious chocolate treats all year round but they really go above and beyond with their holiday collection. Included in their winter series of snowmen puffs and peppermint bark is an item that made us laugh, a lump of coal! Though we’d be more than happy to find a lump of coal made out of dark chocolate, caramel, eggnog ganache and pecan praline at the bottom of our stocking.
Chocolate Ornaments at Thomas Haas
Thomas Haas is always the place to go for indulgent chocolate. And that’s certainly true of their chocolate ornaments that are filled with truffles and other delicious treats. Can we get a tree that is just covered in these?
Gingerbread Ice Cream at Ernest’s Ice Cream
A highlight of the Vancouver dessert scene, don’t expect Ernest to take the season off just because it’s cold outside. For those of us who can handle eating ice cream in the winter, Ernest has released a series of festive flavours including a delicious gingerbread one we can’t stop eating.
Have fun indulging your sweet tooth in Vancouver this festive season!
