Welcome to Canada, Amazon Prime Video!

Posted on December 16, 2016

CityMash.com - On December 14th, Canadians welcomed a new TV and movie streaming service up to the Great White North. Amazon Prime Video has finally made its way to Canada and into the homes of Vancouverites.

Much like Netflix and CraveTV, Amazon Prime Video offers a subscription service for members to stream TV and video content from any device through an internet connection.

What’s so great about Amazon Prime Video? Well, for starters, it’s much cheaper than its competitors. At only $79 per year this service beats out Netflix ($144/year) and even CraveTV ($96/year). Plus, Canadians can enjoy a 30 day free trial to test out Amazon Prime Video – which is just enough time to binge watch your favourites!

If you’re already an Amazon Prime subscriber, you can enjoy Amazon Prime Video at no extra cost. New members to the video service will also enjoy free two-day shipping on Amazon products, unlimited photo storage and other special Amazon Prime perks like exclusive deals.

So if you’re a fan of Transparent, The Man in The High Castle or The Grand Tour, Amazon Prime Video is definitely for you. And even if those titles don’t grab you, there are lots of others to discover. While their library isn’t as extensive as the ones by Netflix or CraveTV, the reduced price and added perks definitely make Amazon Prime Video a contender.

I think Amazon Prime Video is a great add on to the Amazon Prime package as a whole, but I wouldn’t subscribe just for the streaming service. I think Netflix is still way ahead because of their original programming.
