Vancouver’s Own Ryan Reynolds Gets Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Posted on December 19, 2016

CityMash.com - One of Vancouver’s favourite hometown celebrities, Ryan Reynolds, has cemented his star status by receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. On December 15th, Reynolds was honoured with the 2596th star on the famous walkway in Hollywood, California.

Reynolds, who is best known for starring in romantic comedies, like The Proposal, and action flicks, like Deadpool, was joined on the red carpet at the star ceremony by famous pals and his equally famous family. The crowds, some dressed in Deadpool masks, cheered as actress Anna Faris gave a speech and introduced Ryan Reynolds to the crowd.

The loudest cheers belonged to Reynolds’ wife, actress Blake Lively, and their two year old daughter, James. Their second child, born in September of this year, also joined the family on the red carpet. Both children were naturals on the red carpet – James stole the microphone, and the show, with her adorable curls and cute grin while their youngest, whose name has not been announced, slept soundly un-phased by the crowds.

2016 has been a pretty stellar year for Reynolds and his family. On top of receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Reynolds also received a Golden Globe nomination for best actor in a musical or comedy for his work in Deadpool. Filmed in Vancouver, Deadpool, in which Reynolds played the title character, grossed over $780 million worldwide. The sequel is expected to begin filming in Vancouver in 2017. 2016 also saw Reynolds win People Magazine’s Sexiest Dad Alive award and is the year he welcomed his second child.

Congratulations to Vancouver born and bred Hollywood star, Ryan Reynolds! We hope we get to congratulate you in person when you next return to your Canadian homeland.
