CityMash.com - New Year’s Eve is right around the corner and lucky for Vancouverites, there are lots of great places in the city to celebrate another year in the books. Whether you prefer something on flat land, over water or up on the slopes, Vancouver knows how to ring in the new year for celebrants of all ages. Say goodbye to 2016 and hello to 2017 at one of these great celebrations below:
New Year’s Celebration at Canada Place
For the second year in a row, Canada Place is hosting a free, all-ages, New Year’s Eve celebration in downtown Vancouver. What makes this event even more special? A huge display of fireworks! A kid-friendly countdown and fireworks show will happen at 9:00 PM with a bigger celebration following at 12:00 AM for those of us who can make it that late.
Head to the mountains
Take your new year celebrations to new heights by joining the festivities on Grouse Mountain or Mount Seymour. Head to Family First Night at Mount Seymour for snow tubing, tobogganing, live music and a kid-friendly countdown. Or take part in the Family New Year’s Eve at Grouse Mountain with outdoor skating and live entertainment. Bonus: The Grouse Mountain event is free for season pass holders!
Telus World of Science New Year’s Eve 2017
To ring in the new year, Science World will welcome over 1000 attendees to one of Vancouver’s biggest new year bashes. With two rooms of music on two floors, six DJs, five bars and live performances, this party is a great way to forget all about the troubles of 2016.
NYE Extravaganza Club Crawl 2017
Designed for students, this NYE club crawl is the party that won’t stop moving. Kicking off at popular downtown Vancouver spot Roxy Nightclub, the club crawl then continues on to three other venues where attendees will receive front of the line tickets, party favours and transportation between venues.
Take to the water
If clubs and mountains aren’t your thing, perhaps you prefer to welcome in the new year on the water. Check out Vancouver Gala New Year’s Eve boat cruise complete with fine dining and live music or the Great Gatsby-themed Magic Spirit Yacht New Year’s Eve party. Both boat parties promise stellar views of the city and a night to remember.
Celebrities New Year’s Eve 2017 Black & White Ball
For Vancouver’s largest gay NYE party, there’s only one spot: Celebrities. Head to this famous Davie Street spot for a night of dance music, DJs and a party that doesn’t stop until 4:00 AM.
Fairmont Waterfront New Year’s Eve
For a fancier spin on the new year festivities, we recommend the Fairmont Waterfront New Year’s Eve bash. This party includes dancing, appetizer stations, a champagne toast and a massive balloon drop at midnight. But the best part? Party goers will be able to enjoy a view of the Canada Place fireworks without having to stand outside in the cold.
Whistler Presents: New Year’s Celebration
If you’re looking to get away from the city for New Year’s Ever, the Whistler Village invites you to Whistler Presents: New Year’s Celebration. This family friendly event will feature ice skating, live music, fireworks and a Fire and Ice Show.
Happy New Year, Vancouver! Where will you be ringing in 2017?
