CityMash.com - If there’s one thing we know to be true about Vancouver drivers, it’s that we are not prepared for the winter. We’ve experienced the most snow in decades over the last month, and boy have the roads been a doozy. When we’re getting down about the cold temperatures, terrible road conditions, and lack of sunlight, it’s important to think about our fellow Canadians out East!
These poor soles would consider what we call winter to be a walk in the park, so let’s count ourselves lucky to live where the winters are mild (by Canadian standards, of course).
Just this weekend, over 100 vehicles were involved in a massive accident on Highway 401 corridor between Oshawa and Belleville, Ontario. Though many people were taken to the hospital, no serious injuries were reported. Many pedestrians pulled out their phones to film the catastrophe, here is some of the footage caught by the by-standers:
Ontario police are urging drivers to slow down, as many of the drivers involved in the accident confessed to going 80km an hour in this state of total whiteout.
Though Ontario winters are harsher than ours, this serves as a reminder to drive save across Canada in poor conditions. Stay safe, fellow Canadians!
