Deadpool 2 Begins Filming in Vancouver May 1

Posted on January 17, 2017

CityMash.com - Everyone’s favourite foul-mouthed superhero will be taking to the streets of his hometown once again. Ryan Reynolds will be returning to Vancouver this spring to begin filming Deadpool 2. Hoping to catch a sight of the Canadian hottie in action? Just hang around the Georgia viaduct and look for someone in red tights.

Deadpool was the surprise hit of 2016. After Green Lantern bombed in 2011, not too many people were eagre to see Reynolds attempt to play another superhero. But it turns out Ryan was perfect for the part of quick-witted, sharp shooting Wade Wilson AKA Deadpool. The movie went on to earn $780 million making it the highest grossing R-rated movie of all time. Deadpool also earned two Golden Globe nominations – one for best picture and one for Reynolds in the lead role. It is also garnering considerable Oscar buzz, which would be a first for modern superhero movies.

David Leitch will direct Deadpool 2, which carries the working title, “Love Machine.” Leitch has a long history with action films, working as a stuntman himself on films like The Bourne Ultimatum, Mr. & Mrs. Smith and V for Vendetta, and assistant director on films such as Captain America: Civil War, Jurassic World and The Wolverine. He replaces Tim Miller who split from the team due to creative differences between himself, Reynolds and the writers. Why anyone would ever disagree with hunky Ryan Reynolds is beyond us.

Deadpool isn’t the only superhero coming to Vancouver this year. The four DC Comic series that are filmed in Vancouver have all been renewed and will resume shooting in 2017. So while you’re scoping the streets for Deadpool keep your eyes peeled for Supergirl, Arrow, The Flash and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.

We’ll see you in line when the Deadpool sequel hits theatres. Wanna go splitsies on popcorn?
