7 Things to Do in Vancouver This Weekend – Feb 3-5

Posted on February 2, 2017 - Welcome to the first weekend of February, Vancouver!

This weekend brings us Superbowl Sunday, the end of the Dine Out Vancouver Festival and, unfortunately, the return of snow to Metro Vancouver. Just when we thought winter was over, Mother Nature decided to throw us a curve ball and bring on another round of Winter Wonderland. Let’s just hope this snow doesn’t last too long! There are lots of awesome things to do around Vancouver this weekend, from sports games and concerts to galas and festivals. We can’t let a little snow get in our way!

If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, check out our selection of seven of the coolest events around town. You won’t want to miss any of these!

Winter Wander at Vanier Park

On Saturday, February 4th, head to Vanier Park for Winter Wander 2017 hosted by the Port of Vancouver. Organizers promise a family friendly day filled with music, science, history and art. There will also be food vendors, live entertainment and prizes to be won. For $5 you’ll gain admission to the Museum of Vancouver, H.R. MacMillan Space Centre, Vancouver Maritime Museum, Vancouver Academy of Music and City of Vancouver Archives. Plus, there’s going to be a ball hockey game you can join and an oragami making station if you’re feeling crafty.

Women’s Soccer: Canada VS Mexico

On February 4th, join fans at BC Place for the celebratory homecoming of Canada’s Women’s Soccer Team. This will be the national team’s first home game since winning bronze at the Rio Olympics this summer. On Saturday, our ladies face Team Mexico. It’s just a friendly game between the two teams, but we’re sure the players would love to see some supportive faces in the audience. Go Canada go!

For The Love of Dog

Pacific Assistance Dogs Society (PADS) is celebrating their 30th anniversary with a fundraising gala, For The Love of Dog. The event will feature dinner, dancing, auctions and live music. PADS works to breed, train, raise and support assistance dogs who are then partnered with persons living with disabilities or community care professionals. Now that sounds like a pretty good cause to support to us. For The Love of Dog is a formal affair so don’t forget your bow tie!

Half Marathons

For those who are still sticking to their New Year’s resolution to get fit, Vancouver is hosting two half marathons this weekend. The Vancouver Hypothermic Half Marathon takes place on Saturday, February 4th. Racers will start at the Jericho Sailing Club and join other winter runners around Canada as part of one of 20 Hypothermic Half Marathon events nationwide. The Pacific Road Runners Half Marathon comes to town on Sunday, February 5th as an annual Vancouver tradition since 1988. Every year, the “First Half” raises hundreds of thousands of dollars for local charities.
