CityMash.com - What’s happening Vancouver?
Well we certainly hope the snow has stopped happening. Haven’t we had enough? Let’s all pray that this most recent dumping was our last one of the winter. We need some time off from the snow. Luckily, we get an extra day this weekend to truly recover. Thanks to Family Day on Monday, we get a three day weekend! With a long weekend and Valentine’s Day on Tuesday, there’s lots to do around the city for singles, couples, friends and families.
Family-friendly Family Day festivities
Holy alliteration, batman! But Family Day is more than just alliteration, it’s a day full of events all around the city. Head to the Vancouver Giants game and join the team on the ice afterwards for a post-game skate. Or check out one of the many festivals all around the city: the Children’s Arts Festival in Richmond, Family Day on Commercial Drive with ice skating, a petting zoo at the Lonsdale Market, lots of winter fun at the Sea to Sky Gondola Family Day Weekend or family time at the Kitsilano Family Day. If you’re looking for something more in touch with nature, head to Van Dusen Gardens for their Family Day event or sleepover at the Vancouver Aquarium. So many places to celebrate with your family this long weekend!
Yup, we’re serious. Love in The Square is back again this year! Show up on Sunday, Feb 12th at Robson Square with your marriage license in hand and you could get married for free. Young, Hip & Married, Vancouver’s coolest officiant company, began hosting this event in 2015 and since then a line up of other vendors have gotten involved. Last year, 77 couples said “I do” and Love in The Square is planning to spread just as much matrimonial bliss with this year’s event.
Another favourite from #loveinthesquare with @popupweddingsBC One of my favourite things about this day was how in love all the couples were…. Sometimes it's hard to photograph the wedding ceremony – its hard to let your natural emotions free with a crowd. Elopements gets you right in the feels… just two people bonding for life over love. What a wonderful way to spend Feb 14! Bun Bo Hue and Pho Dac Biet- I literally promise this isn't sponsored. I'm going to Sura atm (don't hate me). But this place is SO GOOD! The broth is so flavourful and complex. In addition with the Bun Bo Hue, the lemongrass mix added an amazing herbaceous and fishy quality that works so well (10/10). 🍜
